Why enable two factor authentication?

Two factor verification is a part of multi-factor authentication (MFA) and is used for high risk applications like shopping, email, or banking. You may have also used two factor authentication with the Secure Access Washington (SAW) service. Two-factor verification is an added layer of security for your accounts and devices beyond just your password. It requires an additional step, after passwords, such as a PIN texted to your mobile device. This example requires something you know (I.E the password) and something you have (I.E. your cell phone) before anyone can access your account. This added layer of security makes it harder for cyber criminals to access your accounts and helps keep you safer online.
