Nobody needs your password

From time to time all of our workstations need to be fixed or upgraded by the Service Desk. Sometimes the Service Desk has maintenance that needs to be taken care of without us noticing anything wrong with our machines. Either way, remember that they should never ask for your password and you should never provide it. Those working on your computer are provided special accounts and permissions to do the tasks they need to. No one has a legitimate need of your password other than you.

Security tips are brought to you by the CTS SOC. The mission of the CTS SOC is to provide centralized information sharing, monitoring, and analysis of Washington State security posture. Contact us at: soc@cts.wa.gov.
